I am primarily a painter /printmaker inspired by the beautiful surrounding countryside where I live on the edge of the Charnwood forest in the midlands. I initially started working as an illustrator after completing a BA hons in printmaking at De Montfort university in my twenties before embarking on a post graduate diploma in illustration at Central Saint Martins college of art in London. I have had a successful career as an illustrator before taking time away from art to bring up my two children.
I now have more free time, and have returned to painting for the love of being expressive, rather than having to follow a commercial brief. My work encompasses a variety of styles and techniques inspired by both nature and my inner world.
My style of working often involves working on multiple paintings simultaneously, this enables me to maintain an objective approach to each individual painting, enabling a free thinking looser approach to each painting.
Using a wide variety of materials, such as wax, electric sanders, collage, paint and anything that I find within my environment that comes to hand, I create artwork that is very personal and unique.
